Students Who Enroll Full-Time at a California Community College Can Qualify for the Student Success Completion Grant (up to $8,000)
The Student Success Completion Grant is a financial aid program that encourages community college students to enroll full-time by offering up to $8,000 in financial aid, so they can work less, focus on classes more, and graduate, begin careers and start earning money as soon as possible. The amount of money students receive is dependent upon the number of classes they take. Students can get up to $2,596 per year for taking at least 12 units per semester, and that amount more than triples to up to $8,000 per year for taking 15 or more units. This means if current students are enrolled in 12 units, they could receive much more financial aid if they take just one more 3-unit class.
The Student Success Completion Grant is an incredible opportunity for current and prospective community college students to secure additional financial aid for being a full-time student. And it does not have to be repaid.
Who is eligible?
Community college students are eligible for the Student Success Completion Grant if they:
- Enroll in 12 or more units per semester (and with 15 or more units they get additional aid)
- Apply for financial aid (such as the FAFSA and CADAA) and are awarded a Cal Grant B or C
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress requirements, including a 2.0 GPA or higher. Contact a local community college financial aid office for more information about eligibility.
How to apply?
Complete the FAFSA or the CADAA and the appropriate community college financial aid office will determine eligibility and automatically award this grant.
Financial aid applications are being accepted now! Be sure to encourage students to complete their application as soon as possible to see if they are eligible to receive the grant. Current and prospective students can visit ICanGoToCollege.com for direct links to the FAFSA or CADAA, and to enroll at their local community college.
Students who have already completed the FAFSA or CADAA for the 2024-25 academic year do not need to re-apply. They will be notified if they are eligible and are awarded the Student Success Completion Grant as part of the financial aid application process.

San Diego Education Fund Scholarship
CALLING ALL OF SAN DIEGO UNIFIED’S HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS. Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey towards a career in teaching or STEM?
EXTENDED DEADLINE! The 2024 application period for STEM and Teacher scholarships closes at 5 p.m. March 24.
Students selected for this stipend scholarship will receive financial payments two times during each
academic year. The scholarship is renewable annually contingent on full-time enrollment in a college
curriculum with sufficient progress toward a degree for students attending college in San Diego County.
Those attending a four-year university for a TEACHING career receive two payments of $1,000 per
academic year; plus a stipend allowance for the credential year. Those pursuing a STEM career receive
two payments of $1,250 per academic year. Students enrolled in Community College will receive two
payments of $500 per academic year.

Essay and Visual Arts Scholarships to Raise Awareness of the Armenian Genocide
The California Armenian Legislative Caucus Foundation (Foundation) is holding two scholarship contests for the 2024 commemoration of the Armenian Genocide. High school students in ninth through twelfth grades are invited to participate in an essay contest and/or a visual arts contest to increase awareness of the Armenian Genocide. The submission deadline for both contests is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024.
All winners will be awarded scholarships and acknowledged at the Foundation’s Annual.
Armenian Advocacy Day. Winners will also receive special recognition from the
Foundation’s members. Original artwork may be requested from visual arts finalists for
display in the California State Capitol. Scholarship awards are $1,000 for first place,
$750 for second place, and $500 for third place in each contest.

Cal Coast Cares Foundation Application Period Now Open for 2024 Student Scholarships
Over $185,000 in student scholarships to be awarded this year.
SAN DIEGO – February 14, 2024 – The Cal Coast Cares Foundation will begin accepting applications for its next round of student scholarships February 1 through April 15 to support college-bound high school seniors, foster students and current college students in San Diego or Riverside counties. This year, the foundation will award over $185,000 in student scholarships.
The non-profit foundation will award $2,000 scholarships to selected students who are pursuing higher education and have a proven commitment to academic excellence and leadership in the community. Recipients of first-year foster student scholarships will also be eligible for second-year scholarships by continuing to meet the requirements.

Young Legislators Program Now Accepting Nominations!
OVERVIEW
The Young Legislators Program (YLP) is an educational program sponsored by the Office of Assembly member Akilah Weber, M.D. of the 79th Assembly District. The goal of the program is to equip our youth with the skills and knowledge to consider a career in government or public service, and an opportunity to learn about the state legislative process, current events, leadership development, financial literacy, and more.
The Young Legislators will meet for six monthly sessions from April through September, on the 4th Wednesdays from 5pm-7pm at our district office in La Mesa (unless otherwise noticed). At the end of the program, the Young Legislators will introduce a bill idea to Assembly member Weber.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Open to high school sophomores and juniors who live or attend school in the 79th Assembly District.
- Must submit official high school transcript.
- Must complete application form including short essays.
- Must be able to commit to the scheduled sessions.
PROGRAM DATES:
- Session #1: April 24, 2024
- Session #2: May 22, 2024
- Session #3: June 26, 2024
- Session #4: July 24, 2024
- Session #5: August 28, 2024

CGCS Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarship Program | Applications now open!
The Council of the Great City Schools is partnering with Dr. Bernard Harris to offer the CGCS-Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarships Program for high school seniors who are planning to major in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).
Named after former astronaut, physician and businessman Bernard Harris, who was the first African American to walk in space, the scholarships are available to 2024 graduating seniors in urban school districts represented by the Council.
Four $5,000 scholarships for two males and two females each will be awarded to two African American and two Hispanic seniors pursuing studies in STEM-related fields in college next fall.
To apply for the 2024 scholarship, the application must be submitted online by April 12, 2024.

SDCOE My Voice Counts Series Session 3: CalKIDS "FREE Money for College"
Join the San Diego County Office of Education as we provide a virtual space for parents and community members to learn about CalKIDS. This informational webinar explains the CalKIDS program that will give free money to students to attend college. CalKIDS is a new program from the State of California that provides up to $1,500 in free money for college to eligible public-school students. The third session of the five-part series is scheduled for Wednesday, February 7th at 5:30 p.m. Please see the attached flyer for registration and workshop information. THE 2024 DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION “WE SERVE!”
The Downtown San Diego Lions Club, through its Welfare Foundation, has scholarships available to students graduating from eight area high schools to assist with pursuing higher education in an undergraduate college or vocational school of their choice. Scholarships of $2,000 will be awarded to each student selected.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents and are required to submit a copy of their alien registration identification card and write their registration number on the application form in the designated area.
Graduating seniors will be selected only from Hoover, Garfield, Kearny, Twain, Lincoln, San Diego, Monarch and Gompers High Schools. This scholarship is intended to assist graduating seniors from the geographical area of the Downtown San Diego Lions Club.
Applications submitted from students of other schools will not be considered.

Inspiring Future Leaders STEM Scholarship Program
10 scholarships to be awarded to students who self-identify as a woman or person of color
SAN DIEGO, March 29, 2023 – High school and undergraduate students who reside in communities served by San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) are encouraged to apply for a $10,000 scholarship under a new initiative called the Inspiring Future Leaders STEM Scholarship Program.
This initiative is specifically designed to support students of color, girls and women in high school or college who plan on pursuing a degree in a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) or STEM-related course of study. Scholarship winners who maintain their eligibility and pursue their course of study in a traditional four-year university can have their scholarships renewed for an additional three years – meaning they could receive a total of $40,000 in financial aid.
The deadline to apply for this scholarship is April 27, 2023, 1p.m. Pacific Time.
